Digital signatures within Microsoft Office SharePoint
A typical example of the use of digital signatures (standard electronic signatures) within Microsoft Office SharePoint is when a document must be signed by more than one signer. The originator of the document checks-in the document and routes it to the various signers. Each signer receives an e-mail with a URL pointing to the document. The signers can now check-out the document and sign it. Once the document has been signed by all signers, the originator/owner of the document is notified that the signing process is complete.
