In the following scenario, an Engineering Change Order (ECO) is routed between departments for approval and signature. John Miller works in product engineering. He receives an Engineering Change Order request from Judy Smith, a Field Service Engineer.  John is now ready to approve the ECO.  He right-clicks on the signature line, and he selects the Sign menu option. John is prompted for his User name and password. After adding his reason for signing the document, John clicks Sign. The ECO is now signed, and the green check indicates that the document has not been changed since it was signed. Anyone within the corporation or outside partners can validate John's signature and confirm that the document is authentic...without the need for any proprietary hardware or software.
