| Learn which digital signature solution best fits your needs
CoSign® digital signatures come in two flavors: CoSign Desktop for individuals or very small offices with up to 10 signers, and CoSign Central for small to large organizations. The core functionality of both CoSign Desktop and CoSign Central is similar, and both produce legally enforceable records of approval and authorization, expedite processes, and cut operating costs. CoSign Central, however, also provides additional advantages for internal and external processes that are invaluable for companies with more than 10 signers. A comparison chart of CoSign Desktop and CoSign Central can be seen below. |
| CoSign DesktopCosign Desktop is a digital signature solution that is installed on a single desktop computer. The user’s identity is validated by email and the signing key (or Private Key) is stored on the user’s computer. The license for CoSign Desktop is unique to a specific user and cannot be transferred. CoSign Desktop is an ideal digital signature solution for individual signers (such as freelancers) or very small offices that are not restricted by specific regulatory requirements. | CoSign Central
CoSign Central is designed to best meet the requirements of organizations with multiple signers. It is a server-based digital signature solution that provides electronic signing capabilities to all of the authorized users connected through the network. CoSign Central offers the following valuable benefits for organizations:
- Centralized management - By synchronizing with an organization's existing User Management system, such as Microsoft® Active Directory®, CoSign Central enables deployment in a matter of hours and straightforward management of signers. Adding users and revoking a user's signing rights is as simple as adding or deleting them from the directory. The centralized management reduces IT management and the total cost of ownership, and ensures that only authorized employees have the ability to sign agreements on behalf of the organization.
- License transferability - CoSign Central provides the option of license transferability, enabling the transfer of a license from an employee that has left an organization to the employee that has taken their place.
- Workflow integration - The CoSign digital signature solution integrates seamlessly with leading workflow and content management systems such as Microsoft® SharePoint®, enabling automated formal approval processes from within the organization’s existing workflow system.
- External-facing applications - CoSign Central enables digitally signing external-facing applications, such as advanced clientless customer or partner-facing web applications, point-of-sale applications, and eInvoicing applications.
- Enhanced security and compliance - CoSign Central stores the signing key (Private Key) in a centralized and secure hardware (FIPS-140 Level 3 validated) device, ensuring that only designated users can access and sign with CoSign. The strong key security combined with a high level of user identification (supported by standard operating procedures for identification throughout the employee recruitment process) enables CoSign Central to comply with the most stringent federal, state, and industry regulatory requirements, such as the FDA’s 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, and SOX. Click for additional information on CoSign Central compliance.
- External trust - Since the CoSign digital signature includes the user’s identity as well as the company’s name, organizations and third-parties can confidently verify and trust the user’s identity and the validity of the signature. An electronic document with a CoSign digital signature is just as valid as a paper document signed with a company seal.
