Your personal certificate has duplicated itself, which causes Word/Excel to choose the wrong certificate during the signing operation.

To resolve this issue you need to delete the replicated certificate. To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools > Internet Options (Figure 1). Figure 1
2. On the Content tab click Certificates (Figure 2). Figure 2
3. The Certificate window will appear, listing 2 identical certificates (Figure 3). Figure 3
4. Delete one of the certificates by choosing it and clicking Remove (Figure 4).

Note that the replicated certificate is usually the second one.

Figure 4
5.
Confirm the deletion of the certification (Figure 5).

Note that this operation is safe since you cannot delete the original certificate. Only the replicated certificate can be deleted.

Figure 5
6. If you check the Certificates window again (Figure 6), you will see that there's only one certificate in your personal store. Figure 6
7. Close any Microsoft Office applications you have running in the background, and then re-open them.
If you cannot see the CoSign Ribbon it means that CoSign was not installed properly.

Please perform the following steps to reinstall CoSign:

1.

Open Microsoft Word/Excel 2007/2010 and go to Word Options > Add-ins > COM Add-ins > Go (Figure 1).

To continue, click OK.

Figure 1
2.

Validate that all AR Plug-ins exist and marked with a check (Figure 2):

  • AR Word Addin
  • ARX CoSign Signatures Add-in for Office
  • ARX Cosign Signature Ribbon Add-In

If an item is not checked, place a check on it, then close and re-open the application.

If the item is still not checked, follow these steps:

  1. Un-install CoSign Desktop
  2. Restart your PC
  3. Re-install CoSign Desktop again.
Figure 2
3.

If the above steps did not help, open My Computer\<Windows Folder>\Assembly\ and look for

  • ARXMLDigSigs
  • Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Dao
  • Microsoft.Office.Tools.Word.

If one of these files is missing, un-install CoSign Desktop, restart your PC, then re-install CoSign Desktop again.

If both steps fail to resolve the issue, please send your System Event Log (My Computer\system32\config\AppEvent.Evt) via email to support@arx.com. Include an explanation of the problem in your email as well as your contact information.

There are multiple reasons why you may be seeing this error:

  • If you are renewing a license on behalf of another user, you should ignore this message and continue.
  • If you previously attempted to make a payment via PayPal and were unsuccessful, please ignore this message and continue.
  • If your license has expired and you have not renewed it yet, please ignore this message and continue.

Please contact ARX Technical support at support@arx.com if none of the above scenarios are relevant to you.

If you are being instructed to re-install the CoSign software, this means that the instructions you are reading are relevant to those users who are purchasing a new CoSign Desktop License (rather than renewing an existing License).

Please note that the cost for renewing a License and purchasing a new License are the same.

This is an indication that you renewed your CoSign Desktop License while your original certificate was still valid. You will continue to see your original certificate until it expires. After the original certificate expires, only one certificate will be available for signing.

Please contact ARX Technical support at support@arx.com if you wish to manually delete the original personal certificate.

Please email us at support@arx.com and we will provide you with an alternate payment method.
