Charles Conn

Charles Conn

Charles co-founded Citysearch and as CEO led that company through its mergers with USA Network's Ticketmaster Online (1998) and Ticketmaster (2001), as well as its public offering (1998) and acquisitions of Microsoft Sidewalk, Match.com, and other companies.
Charles has been a member of the CEO Forum on Education and Technology and the TechNet public policy group. In 1997 he was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Southern California Software Industry Council. In 2001 he was selected as a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute. Prior to starting TMCS, Charles was a partner with McKinsey & Company, and a leader of its Growth Strategy Practice.
Charles is a graduate of Harvard Business School, Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and Boston University.

 

Neil Davies

Neil Davies

Mr. Davies is a research scientist at the University of California Berkeley with extensive international experience of the education and research sectors. Neil is a graduate of Oxford University and University College London with a PhD (1995) in genetics. He has worked for universities and government laboratories in Europe, Latin America, the United States, and Oceania.
Neil was appointed Executive Director of UC Berkeley’s Richard B. Gump South Pacific Research Station in 2000, and has guided the transformation of this facility into one of the world’s leading tropical research laboratories. Based in French Polynesia, he coordinates multidisciplinary teams of scientists and educators from premier academic institutions in Europe, America, and Asia.
In association with the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, Neil has led teams investigating the potential of web-based technologies to revolutionize the institutional infrastructure in which science and education takes place. He has served as an advisor to philanthropic foundations and international non-profit organizations, and contributes to sustainable development initiatives of governmental and intergovernmental bodies.

 

Frank M. Jordan

Frank M. Jordan

Mr. Jordan is currently serving as Special Advisor to the President of Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, one of the 10 largest foundations in the US, on matters of public policy at the Local, State and Federal levels. A career public servant, Frank brings a history of creating workable solutions to complex issues to this philanthropic organization.
A San Francisco native, Frank holds a degree in government & public policy science from the University of San Francisco and a teaching credential from the University of California.
He joined the S.F. Police Department and rose through the ranks to be named Chief of Police by then Mayor Diane Feinstein in 1986.
Mr. Jordan later served as Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco from 1992 to 1996. His administration marked great successes in major programs focusing on family, youth and children’s services, public safety issues, in health care and social services: and in quality of life issues in San Francisco.
As Mayor, he played a major role in converting the Presidio Army Base to a National Park; bringing Bay Area Rapid Transit to the S.F. International Airport, and keeping the S.F. Giants baseball team in the city.

 

Jim Omura, Ph.D

Jim Omura’s career spans academics, the high-tech industry, and non-profit grant making. He was part of the faculty at UCLA where he published over 100 papers, directed the research of 22 Ph.D. students, and co-authored the books Principles of Digital Communication and Coding (co-authored with Andrew Viterbi, co-founder of Qualcomm) and Spread Spectrum Communications, vol I, II, and III.
In 1984 Jim founded the Silicon Valley startup Cylink Corporation which pioneered the commercial applications of public key infrastructure (PKI) for protecting enterprise networks. He also designed some of the first direct sequence spread spectrum digital wireless solutions for the metropolitan area network market. Cylink subsequently became the market leader in two areas: PKI-driven network security, and unlicensed FCC Part 15 digital communications, which later led to the WiFi standard and today’s widespread wireless and mobile access applications. Cylink had an IPO in 1996.
Dr. Omura also serviced as Technology Advisor to Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation in Palo Alto where he managed Science grants focused in astronomy, open access scholarly publication systems, and technologies for environmental applications.
He obtained BS and MS degrees from MIT, and a Ph.D. degree from Stanford, all in Electrical Engineering.

 

Jerry-Schumacher, Ph.D

Jerry Schumacher, Ph.D

Jerry Schumacher has over 20 years experience working with US federal and foreign state government institutions. His current position is as a Vice President Appscio, Inc. He also served as Sr. Technical Staff Member for General Dynamics C4 Systems. Prior to General Dynamics, Jerry retired from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel where he served as the Executive Officer for the Director, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and in the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Dr. Schumacher was also Program Manager for the National Technology Alliance (NTA), and Chief Operations Officer Data Systems Unit for The White House, and Program Director for EE and CS Department at West Point.
Jerry holds a BS Engineering, from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a MS Computer Science, from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. Computer Science, Arizona State University. His dissertation was in "An Integrated Approach for Security on Demand in High Speed, Shared Use Networks."

 

Dario Zamarian

Dario Zamarian

Dario Zamarian has 20 years of experience in the information technology industry. He currently serves as a Vice President in the Access Routing Technology Group at Cisco Systems [NASDAQ: CSCO], which he joined in 2004. Prior to Cisco, Dario held a number of leadership positions with high-growth venture-backed companies. Dario began his business-management career with Dun & Bradstreet [NYSE: DNB], the leading provider of business and financial information, where he worked in their corporate strategy department.
Mr. Zamarian holds an M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin, Italy and an M.B.A. from INSEAD, France.
