Electronic Signatures Drive Engineering Design Process at New Flyer

Pleasant Hill, CA - 6 December, 2006 - Algorithmic Research (ARX), a leading worldwide provider of electronic signatures and data security solutions, has implemented a CoSign® Standard Electronic Signature system at New Flyer Industries, a North American heavy-duty transit manufacturer.

"New Flyer was looking to implement an end-to-end digital sign-off process to keep up with its high pressure engineering and manufacturing environment," says Dave Fraser, CAD Systems Manager, New Flyer. "CoSign’s electronic signatures allows our engineers to electronically add their signature and professional seal to CAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe PDF documents, significantly enhancing our processes; reducing paper, scanner and labor costs."

Prior to implementing CoSign, engineers were required to print CAD drawings for signing. A professional seal would also be added to a document which could comprise as many as 70 pages. The drawing would be re-scanned and uploaded to a document management system, with a hard copy filed into a paper archive. The ECO (Engineering Change Order) approval process was equally time consuming, based on manual routing of documents among several engineers.

"CoSign allows us to shift our energy from manual processes to one that allows us to increase our efficiency and productivity," says Fraser. "We are now poised to face our main challenge of high throughput build-to-order design and manufacturing, significantly improving our customer satisfaction and increasing our competitive advantage."

"New Flyer’s desire to improve their internal processes, delivery time and customer
satisfaction, made CoSign an easy choice," says Sam Aviram, ARX Sales Manager, Canada. "The multiple application and graphical signature support as well as standards-based PKI electronic signatures, allowed CoSign to seamlessly drop into their network and provide a fast ROI."
