Dr. Gadi Aharoni, CEO of Algorithmic Research (ARX), a leading worldwide provider of electronic signatures and data security solutions, is delivering an address today at the Hummingbird Summit 2006 - Worldwide Conference and Technology Showcase in Miami, Florida.
Themed "Ushering in the Paperless Revolution with Digital Signatures,'' the address focuses on the business-critical role electronic signatures are playing in today's document management processes, and how companies can benefit using standard electronic signature (PKI-based) solutions.
"When moving to a paperless environment and implementing document management systems, organizations have not always found a way to ensure the contents of documents have not been tampered with, thereby insuring data integrity and non-repudiation," says Dr. Aharoni. "While signatures on paper documents indicate the author, the migration to paperless does not clearly identify the owner of the document."
The only way to ensure the content of electronic documents is to implement and use an electronic signature solution. This solution, based on PKI technology, has existed for some time, yet organizations are still struggling to find an easy-to-use and an easy-to-deploy system that works well with Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and Enterprise Document Management (EDM).
According to Dr. Aharoni, such signatures also have to comply with regulations - HIPAA, FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) among others. These regulations require that various paperless systems ensure data integrity and information on the owner’s authenticity, by implementing an electronic signature solution. "The lack of electronic signature solutions that meet these criteria often interrupts many an organization's transition to a full paperless environment,” he concludes. |
