ARX releases the First Electronic Signature Solution That Signs Scanned Documents as Part of a New Version of CoSign

Houston, TX, April 26, 2004

ARX, a leading provider of innovative electronic signature solutions, today announced the release of a new version of CoSign, ARX’s flagship digital signature appliance. CoSign Version 2.5 extends its long list of supported applications by enabling organizations to sign TIFF files such as scanned documents. The new release also introduces “batch signing” capabilities and enhanced electronic signature support in Adobe Acrobat.

CoSign Version 2.5 has the unique ability to sign all TIFF images using a standard TIFF Tag, ensuring a simple and standard electronic signature solution for scanned documents. Organizations that scan large amounts of documents can use CoSign to ensure the data-integrity of their scanned documents, eliminating the need to archive the original document for legal purposes. Reducing the need to archive large amounts of paper documents results in significant cost savings and enhanced efficiencies.

CoSign, ARX’s pioneering solution is renown for its ability to provide non-forgeable, interoperable and simple-to-use electronic signatures. CoSign delivers an innovative way to electronically sign documents and transactions within numerous applications anywhere anytime.

With its latest release, CoSign also enriches its signature support for Adobe Acrobat. Acrobat users can now view the date and reason for the signature performed by CoSign. This improvement is important for those organizations that require continuous monitoring of the changes, updates and authorizations made to documents and transactions. In addition, with CoSign Version 2.5 users have the unique ability to compare the signed Adobe document with the previous document.

In order to migrate to electronic systems, life science industries such as pharmaceuticals must comply with regulations such as 21 CFR Part 11, which requires that electronic signatures state the time and reason for the signature. CoSign enables organizations to strictly comply similar regulations worldwide.

CoSign Version 2.5 provides batch signing capabilities, when large volumes of documents need to be digitally signed without individual intervention. This batch-signing feature addresses for example, the need of signing electronic invoices, thereby significantly reducing costs of handling, printing, scanning and archiving. CoSign enables organizations with heavy document traffic to sign large amounts of documents and transactions in a matter of seconds.

CoSign’s technology now allows customers and integrators, which have not implemented MS-Active Directory and Novell/NDS as their User Management System to easily and quickly add users to CoSign.

“The new set of features continues to position CoSign as the leading electronic signature solution, ensuring users of different applications and user-management systems a smooth deployment of CoSign into their existing environment,” said Motty Alon, VP of Marketing, ARX. “The new and unique ability to sign TIFF images, extends ARX’s long list of supported applications and enables organizations to use CoSign in more ways to reduce paperwork expenses and ensure a better ROI.”
